Rawan

Rawan Abu-Ajamia is a 16 year old girl from Deheishe. She is part of a dance troupe, here at Karama, which performs the traditional Palestinian folk dance, Dabka. She loves to meet and to talk with the other Karama kids and young people. Also, the international volunteers are a reason for her to come to the organization. It's not only interesting and exciting to hear stories about their lives, culture and home countries, but she also has the opportunity to improve her English when talking with them or joining in English class.

Rawan is passionate about travelling. The greatest experience she has had in life was a trip with Karama to Denmark last summer. She is still in correspondence with her Danish friend, Ronja, and both girls hope to meet one day again. Rawan loves monkeys, one day she hopes to be able to see them in the wild. If not travelling and discovering the whole world, Rawan's dream is to open a big hairdresser's shop when she finishes her studies.

Karama Volunteer

Michael

Michael, our volunteer from the U.S., has been with Karama since the beginning of September. He is working as a coordinator for our intentional and local volunteers. Furthermore, he is responsible for the fundraising and Karamas outward appearance.
The rich ideas, the patience and the helping hands he has, contribute to our organization in a very positive way.

You will always find Michael in his office with at least one of our cats, sleeping on his lap. If his words wont help you to answer you question, to solve your problems or to cheer up your mood, he will find an adequate song for any issue. He has introduced The Cure to needy, sickly volunteers.

As he is not interested in making his career and the big money in the near future, he decided to to visit the Middle East for the next three years, to gain as much experience of life as possible, in order to get back to the States with a face, that tells stories of wisdom.
The only problem, that may occure when living in this part of the world, is his decision to be a vegitarian.
