Tom Eickhof
Having moved to Berlin in spring 2003, I joined Karama Germany in August of the same year, being responsible for the public relations sector as well as the recruitment and preparation of volunteers willing to work in the Deheishe refugee camp. I also support other members of the team to develop new concepts and to create proposals for financial aid. Currently, I am studying geography, politics and agricultural sciences at the Humboldt University in Berlin, and I am twenty-four years of age.
My first visit to the Deheishe camp and the Karama centre took place in summer 2004, where I stayed for five weeks, giving English lessons and being assigned to office work, which included the development of future concepts, updating of our homepage and translations. Together, we also renovated the whole Karama centre in summer 2004, for example, we renewed the water sytem.
