Separation wall decoration project

In cooperation with the Christian organization Dar Annadwa, Karama chose 6 Deheishe boys to participate in a separation wall decoration project, which was organized by the Al-Quds University in October 2004. This project gave the boys the opportunity to paint together with international artists and volunteers certain parts of the wall, which encircles the Westbank, divides the Occupied Territories, cuts access to water wells and farm lands and which prohibits Palestinians from visiting their relatives that are living on the other side of this separation wall. The wall creates a great deal of frustration for the Palestinian children and this decoration project gave those participating the opportunity to express their emotions and frustrations. In only a few days time, many paintings and messages were put onto the wall, addressing not only Palestinians but also the international community, aiming to raise awareness about the daily suffering of the Palestinian society.
