An absolute dynamo. That about describes our Irish volunteer, Paddy, and what his time with us was like. Though aided by more coffee and cigarettes than any one should ever consume, Paddy worked tirelessly throughout the day and night while here. Unsure of exactly what he was getting into (haven't we all been?), it's safe to say he's found a cause to devote a considerable amount of himself towards.

Being a successful business owner back home near Dublin, Paddy has developed a lifetime of personal and professional contacts which put him in a position to connect Karama with creative professionals, able to do things that until now had relied on the earnest but limited efforts of volunteers. The fruits of these generous collaborations will begin to show up in the coming months.

Even after returning home, Paddy and his family warmly welcomed two of our travelers, Luay and Michael, into their homes in Ireland. Paddy and is wife, Nikki, worked hard to arrange for our representatives to meet with several Irish politicians in Dublin and in Brussels. The opportunity to discuss the work of Karama and the situation of Deheishe refugees with people in a position to influence the foreign policies of an important European Union member state is a rare one for NGOs without their own Paddy.
